Will the GEMAC CAN bus Tester 2 still supported?
The answer to this question is: No!
The GEMAC CAN bus Tester 2 is cancelled for 30.11.2025 and will only be sold as long as residual stocks are available. The device and associated Windows driver are no longer being developed or adapted to future versions of Windows. Compatibility with future Windows versions and Windows updates cannot be guaranteed.
Microsoft is intensifying the security requirements for older Windows drivers from April 2026 on. This can happen that the driver of the CAN bus Tester 2 is no longer loaded after a Windows update or reinstallation. The tester may then be no longer recognized and can no longer be used.
For further operation, we recommend keeping an already working and shared Windows environment unchanged. This can be an older laptop that otherwise no longer uses. Customers also report successful use of the CAN-Bus Tester 2 software in a virtual environment (VirtualBox, VMware) on a host with Windows 11. Please understand that we cannot offer support for such scenarios.
Another good possibility is to continue operating a computer with Windows 10. For a small annual amount you can still get security updates for Windows 10 from Microsoft.
Support remains available
Regardless, we continue to support our customers in troubleshooting and diagnosis in their CAN system. Our technical support will continue to be available for questions about the application of the device and for evaluating measurement results.
The successor device: CAN-Bus Tester GT3
Since 01. January 2026 we distribute our latest measuring device, the CAN-Bus Tester GT3. The device is a complete new development that meets the requirements of CAN-FD and modern systems with CAN-Classic. It addresses all known problems of the CAN and opens your eyes to a number of other tripping traps that our old measuring devices could not detect. Modern operation and hardware also makes the existing work much easier and accelerates. So the new measuring device cuts a good figure in every development department, for the end-of-line test in quality assurance and troubleshooting in the field.
